I waited for the sky to do this. The building is a straightforward two-story medical office — red brick, gray panel, a tall sign tower over the entrance and a cantilevered canopy reaching out over the drop-off — but at dusk in late April the whole west sky went peach and violet, the interior lights came up warm, and the ordinary became worth photographing. This is the payoff of forecasting conditions: the architecture doesn’t change, the light does, and you get about ten minutes.
There’s real range to hold in a frame like that — a bright, colored sky against glowing windows and a canopy already lit — so I bracketed and blended the exposures to keep the sky’s gradient and the warmth of the interiors at once.
Inside, the lobby earns its own frames: a curved run of wood slats sweeps across the ceiling over a circular inset in the floor, the two elevators are wrapped in soft gray tile, and the waiting area is done in calm teal against blue walls. It’s a healthcare space trying hard to feel unclinical, and my job was to photograph that ease rather than the equipment.
