What a Shoot Involves
How a shoot works: picking the day by forecast, what happens on site, and finished photographs delivered, typically within a few days.

Most shoots follow the same shape: a few details up front, a day chosen by the forecast, time on site, and a finished set of photographs a few days later.
Before the shoot
The most important thing I need is exactly where the building is and which way it faces. That tells me how the light will hit it through the day, which decides the best time to shoot.
Rather than booking a fixed date, give me a range of days that work for you and I will pick the one with the best forecast — I wrote software to predict when conditions will be right. How wide that range is varies from job to job; we usually settle on the date and time the week before, with the weather as part of that check.
Beyond that, I need access arranged. A shot list is welcome but optional; most clients skip it now, and we work out the priorities together on site.
Tell me who else will want to license the photographs, because that is what pricing is built around. There is no deposit.
On the day
A half day is up to four hours on location and a full day up to eight. Both include up to 30 minutes of travel, one-way, with an additional cost for further distances. Twilight counts toward those hours, so a day shoot can run into dusk.
You do not need to be there. We can meet on site and decide together what matters most, or once access is arranged I can work on my own. Indoors, furniture may be moved and put back, and some rooms are lit one light at a time. Aerial photographs are included at no extra charge on most jobs, when airspace and weather allow.
After the shoot
I narrow the photographs down, you weigh in, and I finish the final set. Each finished photograph comes in vertical, horizontal and square versions, and retouching — a sign, a parked car, cones, construction debris — is part of finishing.
Finished photographs typically arrive within a few days, and the timeline can be rushed if you need them sooner. They are delivered in a gallery you can browse, along with a direct download link.
