Contractors need two different things from a photographer, and they happen months apart.
During the build
Construction progress photography comes as an AI-rendered time-lapse built from a handful of site visits, so you get a compelling “watch it rise” sequence for marketing without a camera on site all year or the cost of weekly shoots. Aerial frames are usually the most striking part, because site logistics and the shape of the whole project are legible from above and nearly invisible from the ground. I am FAA-licensed and insured, and aerial is included at no extra charge on most jobs when airspace and weather allow.
At completion
Architectural and interior photography of the finished building. Commissioning both stages from the same photographer means the completion images and the time-lapse look like one project rather than two.
Scheduling around the weather
Exterior work is weather-bound, and on a live site a wasted visit costs everyone. I wrote software that forecasts when conditions will suit a given site, which is how I decide when to come out.
Licensing across the team
The owner, the architect, and the designer usually want the images too, so the fee is set per business, and each business that joins brings the price down for every one of them.
